Tour Description

Far from all the classic ITINERARIES of Mount Toubkal and M'goun, the Eastern High Atlas remains an unknown mountain. The Maasker Massif, which culminates at 3747 m at Mount El Ayachi, is a destination that deserves to be discovered. Starting from Tounfite, you will be able to admire magnificent landscapes over the days: lakes, high plateaus, cedar forests, gorges, green valleys in the middle of the arid mountains, traditional villages, and their Kasbahs. You will go on this hike to meet the Berbers of the Atlas and the nomads of the tribes of Yahya. You will thus discover in all simplicity their life and their ancestral culture in the high valleys and will share moments of conviviality while spending nights at the Berber House. The Berber culture exists at the bottom of the mountains of the Eastern High Atlas, the land of the highlands or pastoral areas occupied by the nomads and semi-nomadic Ait Yaflaman, through the mountain barriers that form the Maasker and Ayachi mountains.

Day 1: Tounfite- Ardouz -Ait Brahim -Tizi N ikbliyen - Valley Ait Lahsen Ansegmir (1820 m)

We will start from the Tounfite trip after Breakfast. You will see it in the morning, and then we follow the pathway between the arms of nature, cedar, and oak forests. Also, a panoramic view of the high Eastern High Atlas mountains remains an unknown mountain. The Maasker Massif culminates at 3747 m at Mount El Ayachi, then go up to see Igourdane cave at the foothill of Maasker; we continue our hiking to pass through Ardouz and Ait Brahim village, turn right (southwest) by the bottom of the valley, and well-marked path to go up Tizi n Ikbliyen (2001 m): Tizi means pass in Berber and descend a wide ravine to Ansegmir Valley, have Dinner, and overnight at a local house..

Day 2: Valley Ansegmir Ait Lahsen - Iganzar n'Oufounass- Tizi n'Khouia- Ait Abd ElFadil –Louggagh (1940 m)

Day 3: Louggagh villages – Massou –Taaraart (2087 m)

Day 4: Taaraart- Ayachi summit 3747 m- Taaraart- Tounfite

The longest and most important day in terms of positive and negative elevations. We do not have a mule track but a ridge, then progress through ravines on pebbles; a mountain experience is mandatory; the ascent requires good physical condition (3:30 to 4:30). From the top, the view is superb over the valleys. After a bit of rest, we descend quickly by a long ridge to join our mule drivers at the end of the afternoon, enjoying the good hot tea that awaits us on arrival! We will go with the 4/4 driver to explore Tamalout Dam and the hot water pools where we can take a bath next to the dam in Imtchimen, Tounfite—Dinner and overnight at a Local house..
